Thank you, my friends, for coming to my 50th
Friends,
Thank you for coming to my 50th birthday party, and to those who greeted me through email, text and cards, thank you for your thoughtfulness. Muchas gracias to Vicky Tambunting, Jackie Marco and Mae Reyes for putting the party together, with pink balloons and all and Loren Barias for the pink rose petals on the stairs. My old photos on the tables, done by Mae, were all taken home by my friends.

Cosmo Bar was an great venue, and hosts Vicky Tambunting and Antonio Ortigas Arando set the tone by receiving the guests as I had photos taken with friends downstairs . Hyperbeat band was an excellent choice, thanks to Mae Reyes, and the birthday party cum concert was heated up by 10 to 11pm. My friend Ai Ai de las Alas, a television and movie star (comedienne), came before midnight and sang 4 songs with the band, and invited another actor, Eula Valdez, to join us at the stage. Ai Ai can incite a riot, and no one was left seated while she was on stage. A video of Ai Ai on stage will be posted soon.
Chehe Lazaro and Jimmy Galvez Tan dropped by for a few minutes for photos, and Jimmy for one dance of cha cha. Journalists Yvonne Chua and Luz Rimban stayed. My sorority sisters in Delta Lambda Sigma, Dot Balasbas, Cara Cosalan, Billie Sue Go, chippy See, Batibut Cuyugan, Acel Papa, and the Gran Archon Kata Cosalan came wearing a touch of pink, with Dot Balasbas standing out in an all pink suit and pink shoes, giving “Legally Blonde” a run for their money.
My 70s sisters and “abyan” (friend) in the UP Silak-Silab Confraternity were there - Meloung Lim, Carlette Aquino-Mapa, Grace Santibanez-Yaneza, Joy Tan, and Barry Poliquit, who enjoyed from the ist minute the band played, and was on his feet 90& of the time.
My birthday cake (photograph cake) was a gift from the group of Miyen Verzosa with her St. Theresa’s Alumni friends and Hilda Tidalgo. Oyie de Dios, and my clients Nelie Chan and sisters, Pinky delos Reyes sat beside the group of Maite Defensor, whose friend, a young judge, danced all night including on stage
Sillimanians Dan Rodriguez and wife Lorna, Melba Adriancem, Eunice Demeterio and Victoria Justiniani stayed till past 1 in the morning and were the last of the guests to go home.
The lawyers from the Gender Justice Network were there too- Edith Santos, Loren Barias, Damcelle Torres
Loyal friend Rene Durian came on stage when the band played “YMCA,” and said he was two people that night, for himself and for Charlie Cojuangco, who called him to be sure he would be in the party.
My University of the Philippines Collge of Law Classmates came ! Marilen Ramiro, Manding Miclat, Mavic sarmiento, Susan and Mon Fernandez and Dante Pamintuan, with Class 83’s Tito Geotina (who stayed till after I blew the cake). Raul Reyes dropped by for 30 minutes and disappeared but the photographer caught him so he has evidence that he was there.
