Gender Watch Coalition, a group of persons who advocate for gender equality, women’s human rights, and women’s access to justice recently won its administrative case filed against a former Family Court Judge. The judge was fined P 5,000.00.
Among others, the Judge used discriminatory, sexist language to a female litigant. He told the woman who filed a suit for legal separation, that: ” open your heart and open your legs to your husband.” A hearing was conducted in Manila, before a Justice of the Court of Appeals. The latter recommended the penalty of reprimand but the Supreme Court fined the judge.
